The dress I’m showing off this month is another dress by Collectif. Everything about this dress gets me excited: it’s a swing dress with cherries, mint green atomic boomerangs, pink atomic stars, pink lawn flamingos, pineapples amongst other fruit, tropical flowers and Tiki masks! The Dolores Doll Atomic Flamingo Print Dress by Collectif has it all!
Collectif is rapidly turning into one of my favourite vintage inspired clothing brands. I fell in love with their cardigans the second I owned my first cherry cardi, quickly followed by a swallow and a Tiki cardigan. I got my first Dolores Doll dress from my parents as a very lovely gift for my 25th birthday. I put it on and didn’t take it off for the rest of the day.
Dolores dresses, Dolores Doll dresses and Dolores tops
Not long after that, I fell head over heels with the Dolores Doll Dress’ fitted big sister: a Dolores Dress with pink flowers. Lucky for me, Collectif (as well as another English brand Limb) understands my desire to own dresses I love, in multiple colourways and prints. So when Collectif released this same fitted dress in Leopard, it became a part of my collection in January.
We’re visiting London at the end of the year, and I’ve already convinced the Greaser we have to visit the Collectif Boutique, as I’ve been eyeballing some of their Dolores tops as well.
The Dolores Doll Dress has a sweetheart neckline and elasticated puff sleeves, that you can wear both on, or off shoulder. Most Dolores and Dolores Doll dresses have the same signature big buttons in the middle of the top. Collectif added two faux wooden buttons with an anchor detail to the Atomic Flamingo Print dress to match the tiki theme. The dress has a nipped waist and a full skirt.
Even though all Dolores Doll dresses have the same shape, they don’t all feel the same. This dress’ fabric is slightly lighter than my Cherry Dolores Doll dress. This makes it perfect for the summer. The dress is 97% cotton and 3% spandex. The skirt is full and looks amazing with a petticoat, but can also be worn without.
As I’ve written before, the puffy sleeves on Collectif tops and dresses are a bit of a ‘trouble area’. The sleeves sometimes squeeze a little too tight. Luckily, the sleeves on this dress feel comfortable!
All the combinations
The Dolores Doll Atomic Flamingo Print Dress is a dream. I’d been adoring the print ever since I saw an Instagram post of a lovely lady wearing this dress in Disneyland. She was wearing it with a red cardigan. The whole thing was just so darn cute!
The Atomic Flamingo Print lends itself for so many adorable combinations! There are so many colours in this dress that work perfectly with cute cardigans: red, pink, mint, yellow, green, blue, orange, brown… this dress is limitless!
The Tiki inspired print obviously also works great with Tiki accessories: big flowers and bamboo bangles. I love dresses that can be worn with a nice waist belt, but also look great without one. This dress can be combined with lots of different belts!
I can’t wait to take this pretty little number out for some cocktails!
