Oslo is one of those places everyone should visit, at least once in their life. The view from the Holmenkollen Ski Jump, a stroll down the Karl Johans Gate and admiring “The Scream” by Munch at the National Gallery are obvious musts when you travel to Oslo. However, for lovers of Rock ’n Roll, retro, cocktails and Tiki, there are a lot of other really cool things to do in Oslo!
This is our top 10!
1: Kon-Tiki Museum
Visit the Kon-Tiki Museum. It’s magnificent and the reason we traveled to Oslo in the first place! Check out the famous Kon-Tiki and Ra II rafts, Moai statues and other amazing artifacts. Be sure to visit the gift shop! They sell Tiki mugs by Tiki Farm and statues made by Marian Heyerdahl, daughter of Thor.
Treat yourself to a world-class cocktail at Himkok. This speakeasy bar opened in 2015 and is already voted one of the best bars in the world. A little hard to find, but well worth the search! Look for the logo on the wall.
3: Historical Museum
Check out some authentic Tapa-cloth at the Historical Museum. They also have awesome Dia de los Muertos pieces and they even sell Polynesian war clubs at the museum gift shop!
A coffee shop by day, a cocktail bar at night! Have a seat and order the Ginger Daiquiri. Like the chair you’re sitting in? It’s for sale! As well as everything else!
5: Big Dipper Records
Go vinyl shopping at Big Dipper Records! They have an extensive collection of Rock ‘n Roll, Rockabilly, Jazz and Blues records. And even some Exotica!
6: Døgnvill Burger
Eat a burger at Døgnvill Burger located on the boardwalk of Aker Brygge. Their interior and food are amazing and the burgers have funny names like “Royale With Cheese” and “An Offer You Can’t Refuse”! You’ll also find a Døgnvill in the super fun neighborhood Grünerløkka!
Spots 7-10 are all located in Grünerløkka. If you don’t have a lot of time in Oslo, definitely go here!
7: Aku-Aku Tiki Bar
Have some Tiki drinks at Aku-Aku Tiki Bar. It’s a great lookin’ bar with decor on loan from the Kon-Tiki Museum! Not in the mood for cocktails (is that really possible…)? They also serve their own beer made by the neighbours: Grünerløkka Brygghus!
8: The Nighthawk Diner
Dine at The Nighthawk Diner. It’s located across the street from Aku-Aku. TND looks great and serves mighty tasty food! They also serve Hawaiian beers!
Shop at Manillusion if you like vintage style clothing and pink!
Have a milkshake at Ryes! We ordered the Elvis (peanutbutter, banana and vanilla) and the Buddy Holly (rum & cognac in pistachio-shake).
Oslo is great!
